Breeze Notecard is a folded greeting card printed with a painted still life: a pale, wide-bellied ceramic vase holding red poppies, cream and blush roses, blue delphinium and a single orange ranunculus. The painting has the soft finish of gouache rather than the precision of botanical illustration, and the red poppies carry the eye around the composition.

Two details set it apart. Small leaves in metallic gold are worked through the arrangement and catch the light, and three monarch butterflies hover at the edges. The background is a warm plaster pink with a painted texture, so the card reads like a small canvas rather than a print.

The card is A6 folded, blank inside for a handwritten message, and comes with an envelope. It is sent flat in a protective sleeve so the gilded detail arrives intact, and when ordered with flowers it travels alongside the arrangement rather than inside it.

It suits thank-you notes, birthdays, Mother's Day and any message where the card should feel as considered as the gift. Because the painting already holds an arrangement of its own, it pairs best with flowers that share one or two of its colours, a red or blush rose arrangement for example, rather than something that competes with it.

A note on writing inside it: because the front is busy with colour and detail, a short message reads best. Two or three lines in your own hand, signed with the name the recipient knows you by, balance the painting better than a full page. A note on your specific blooms

  • Rose — Roses drink heavily — re-cut the stems at an angle every couple of days.
  • Ranunculus — Cut the hollow stems straight across, not at an angle, and keep water shallow and fresh, as these stems sit soft and bruise or rot easily when submerged too deep.
  • Delphinium — Keep the tall stems in deep, fresh water and out of draughts, as Delphinium drinks heavily and wilts quickly if the vase runs low.
