Earth Notecard

Earth Notecard is one of the Amicis house notecards, and it is closer to a printed image than to a greeting card. The front carries a single photographic gradient that runs from near-black at the top through deep amber to a bright honey gold at the base, with no hard edges anywhere in the transition.

Standing along the bottom of that gradient are six red poppies on fine bare stems, silhouetted rather than lit, their petals thin enough that the gold shows through them. The poppy is a flower that has always carried both remembrance and vivid, short-lived beauty, and used at this scale, small against a large field of colour, it reads as both.

A small gold sun sits at the very top of the image, a single point in the darkest part of the gradient, which is what gives the composition its direction: the whole card reads as a sunrise or a sunset depending on how you look at it.

The image sits inside a clean white border with fine gold lettering running vertically along each side, and amicis set in gold beneath. Blank inside, with an envelope supplied. It suits sympathy, thank-you notes and messages that need dignity rather than cheer. Browse all notecards.

The notecard is A6 folded with a full blank inside page. It is sent flat in a protective sleeve, which matters for a card printed edge to edge in dark ink, where any handling mark would show. When ordered with an arrangement it travels alongside rather than inside it. For sympathy in particular, it is worth writing rather than typing, and worth writing at length; the inside page is left entirely clear for that reason.
