Notecard a

Notecard in pink and burgundy is built on stripes and one line of foil. The front is ruled into wide vertical bands alternating between a warm mid pink and a deep burgundy, running the full height of the card with no border, so the pattern is cut rather than framed.

Across the middle, THINKING OF YOU is set in gold foil in hand-drawn capitals, the letters slightly uneven in weight and spacing as though brushed rather than typeset. The foil is genuine, so the words shift between bright and dark as the card is moved, and they sit differently against the pink bands than against the burgundy ones.

There is no illustration and no other text. The burgundy is what makes the card work: it is dark enough to give the gold something to read against, and it stops a pink card from becoming sweet.

Printed on a substantial uncoated stock so the foil sits proud of a matte surface, with a pale pink envelope supplied. Blank inside. Thinking of you is the most useful thing a card can say, which makes this the one to keep for sympathy, illness, difficult weeks and long distances, where a card with an occasion printed on it would be wrong. The notecard is A6 folded with a full blank inside page. It is sent flat in a protective sleeve to protect the foil, which marks if it is handled against another surface. When ordered with an arrangement it travels alongside rather than inside it. For difficult messages, the value of a card that names no occasion is that it does not force a tone: the words you choose set it instead.
