Sylvan is the gentlest arrangement in the collection. Peach chrysanthemum pompons sit at the centre with white phalaenopsis orchids opening below them, surrounded by carnations, roses and hydrangea in cream and blush. Green palm fronds fan out on both sides and give the piece its name, and a single eremurus spire and scattered allium heads lift the top line. Chamomile-like matricaria fills the gaps with something almost wild.
The phalaenopsis is called the moth orchid for the shape of its blooms in flight, and it is one of the most enduring cut flowers available. Each individual bloom can hold for weeks, and the spray opens progressively from the base outward.
The chrysanthemum pompons here are the visual anchor, and their tightly packed spherical heads are what give the arrangement its softness: dozens of small petals reading as one rounded mass. The palm fronds are a deliberate structural choice, framing the flowers the way an architectural line frames a soft interior.

Keep Sylvan in cool, fresh water out of direct sun. Change the water every two days and re-cut the rose, carnation and calla stems on a slant. The hydrangea drinks through its petals as well as its stem, so mist the head lightly at each water change. Give the orchid spray room and do not let it press against the box edge, as the blooms bruise under pressure. The palm fronds need only the same water as the flowers and can be wiped with a damp cloth to keep them glossy.
