You'll Do is the driest card in the range. The front is ruled in even vertical stripes of red and pale pink, running edge to edge with no border, and across the upper third sits a white banner with a wavy scalloped outline carrying two words in black block capitals: YOU'LL DO. The full stop is part of the joke.
Above the banner, a small white heart sits raised from the surface, the only three-dimensional element on the card and the only thing softening the message. It is placed centrally, half overlapping the top edge of the banner, so it reads as an afterthought rather than a decoration.
The stripes are the entire design. There is no illustration, no additional type, and no attempt to explain the sentiment. Printed on a weighty uncoated stock, matte, with an envelope supplied.
Blank inside. This is a Valentine's or anniversary card for a couple who find sincerity funnier than romance, and it depends entirely on the recipient: it is affectionate if you know each other well and unforgivable if you do not. Send it with roses so the gesture is unmistakable even if the card is not. Browse all notecards.
The card is A6 folded with a blank inside page, and the raised heart is applied by hand rather than printed, so each one sits very slightly differently. It is sent flat in a protective sleeve to keep the heart intact. When ordered with an arrangement it travels alongside rather than inside it, which for this card is just as well: the joke works better if the flowers arrive looking serious.
You'll Do is written for people who know each other well:
- Valentine's Day for a couple who dislike sentiment
- Anniversaries where the joke is long-established
- Long relationships and long marriages
- Sent with roses, so the gesture reads clearly
- Best avoided for a new relationship
